SHORT CURRICULUM VITAE  

Branimir D. Reljin received the Dipl. Ing (5 years study) degree in 1969, the M.Sc. degree in 1977 and the Ph.D. degree in 1983, all from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) University of Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia), in the field of the Circuit Theory and Network Synthesis. Since 1974 he is joined at the FEE, University of Belgrade. Since 1995 he is a Professor with the Department of General Electrical Engineering. He is teaching several courses in graduate and undergraduate studies: Circuit Theory, Digital Image Processing, Medical Informatics, Telemedicine, Artificial Neural Networks, Digital Signal Processing and Network Synthesis. Occasionally, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad and in Čačak (University of Kragujevac), Serbia (Yugoslavia), and at the Faculty of EE, University of Banja Luka (Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina), both in undergraduate and graduate studies. He was an advisor for a number of Doctoral Dissertations, M.Sc. Thesis and Diploma Works. He has given a number of invited lectures in the field of Medical Image Processing, Signal Processing, Neural Networks, Fractal and Multifractal Analyses, and Telemedicine in several institutions and universities in Serbia and Montenegro, as well as in Europe (Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and in the USA: Temple University, Jefferson University, University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), and Delaware State University (Dover).

He has published more than 350 papers in technical journals and conferences, four books and several book chapters, on different aspect of circuit theory, neural networks, digital and medical image processing, fractal- and multifractal analyses, as well as a number of papers in domestic conference proceedings. He has been awarded twice for the best paper at the largest national (Yugoslav) scientific conference of the Society of Electronics, Telecommunications, Automation and Nuclear Engineering (ETAN), later on renamed to ETRAN (Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Automation and Nuclear Engineering).

Branimir Reljin was a project leader for several national and international projects in the field of Neural Networks, Medical Imaging and Telemedicine, Signal Acquisition and Processing, and currently he is a MC member and a coordinator of Working Group 5 in COST Action 292 “Semantic multimodal analysis of digital media”, working in the field of image retrieval with user’s relevance feedback, and the MC member of the COST Action IC 0604, “Anatomic Telepathology Network (EURO-TELEPATH)”. He is the President of the 3C committee for standards in electrical engineering and the member of the Committee of national standards in medical informatics, Group for information technologies, of the Serbian Secretariat for Standardization. He has a Senior Member grade of the IEEE society and he is the IEEE Serbia and Montenegro (SCG, former YU) CAS&SP Chair and a member of several scientific and professional societies. He was the Vice-President of the national professional society ETRAN from 2002 to 2006. Also, he is a member of the editorial boards of several journals and has been on the program committees of a number of conferences. He is a General Chair of the IEEE co-sponsored symposia on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL, in 1995, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008) and the co-editor of NEUREL Conference Proceedings.
